Yippie-skippy

I love it when some one calls out of the blue, or sends you an email out of nowhere.  It makes me feel special that people from oh so long ago take the time to say hi.

I am happy....it's day 2.

Hope

I have two religion class right now and I love both of them.  The one is Intro to the New Testament.  It's taught by a pastor so most of the material presented in class is historical and doesn't really challenge anything.  I like it because it's exhausting to challenge everything in the Bible.  The other class is Women in the Bible.  The conversations in this class are so enlightening.  People from all sorts of religious backgrounds (or lack there of) contribute their views of the stories in the Bible.  One girl in class, who has no real religious background, said something that made me feel incredibly good about myself.  I small group of us were talking to the professor after class.  This girl made the comment that she appriciates my view and outlook.  She said she was impressed that I can relate things to other verses in the Bible, where she can only look at the passage alone because she doens't really know what else is in the Bible.  My  goal is to be a "reflector" of God and show God and his love in me.  Maybe my mirror isn't as dull and dirty as I thought.

I think I might want to go back to Spring Hill this summer.

I'm stressed out to the max with finals and papers and all that jazz.

Almost there....

1 more week of class.  2 more weeks until exams are over and I get to go home.  Sounds exciting right?  It is until I start thinking about all the school work I need to do in those 14 short days.

My mom came to visit on Saturday and it couldn't have been more enjoyable.  First Bob and I met her at Union Station and went out for lunch at Macy's on State.  The big tree wasn't up yet, and the window displays weren't unveiled, but it was still lovely.  I was a little nervous about the whole lunch thing, because it was the horrid meeting of the parents (or at least mom) for Bob.  Things went smooth though and Mom was impressed (much to my delight)

I pray God gives me the concentration to sit down and get some work done...something I've been struggling with a LOT lately.

Update long over due....

I've been away from home and in Chicago for 2 months now.  That's really not a long time, but it's the longest I've ever been away from home.  I miss it.

I miss the smell of burning leaves in the fall...

I miss going to church with my family...

I miss the tree on the back of our property that I would sit in and think, dream, and pray...

I miss the familiar faces...

I take for granted how easy Christianity is back at home.  When I'm in Chicago, I feel I need to mask it.  I feel that people are going to think I'm a psycho-religious far right wing loony if I even mention the word Jesus or pray in public before a meal.  I havn't been to church since I've been home.  Every week I try, but it just doens't end up happening.  Going to church is all about gathering with a group of believers and learning and worshiping Jesus.  Going to a church where you don't know anyone all by youself is difficult.

I'm unravelling fast...November can't go fast enough...
